Governor Mike Braun has removed Dubois County Sheriff Tom Kleinhelter from the Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board.

The board rejected a proposed settlement that would have allowed him to remain a certified law enforcement officer until 2027.

Kleinhelter faces multiple criminal charges in Marion County concerning allegations that he lied during a state police investigation.

He had been serving as a member of the board’s decertification subcommittee reviewing his own case.

A decertification request against Kleinhelter is still pending.
