Gibson Co. Residents Urged to Have Severe Weather Alert Backup Plan as County’s Sirens Are Replaced

By John Szink Jul 21, 2026 | 12:52 PM

The Gibson County Sheriff’s Office says the county is working with the vendor for new weather sirens for the county, and the upgrade process is underway.

Over the next couple weeks or so, some sirens will go offline temporarily while they are replaced and needed programming/signaling equipment is installed.

The county says it is working to minimize any disruption, but there will be some downtime for each siren.

Residents are urged to have multiple sources available for severe weather alerts, including TV and radio stations, phone apps, and weather radios.
