By John Szink Jul 25, 2026 | 7:59 AM

Fire departments across the country are facing a “fire truck crisis” as the cost of new fire engines has doubled since 2020, with delivery wait times stretching up to four and a half years.

Carmel, Indiana Mayor Sue Finkam and Senator Jim Banks are calling for a federal investigation into potential anticompetitive practices in the fire truck manufacturing industry.

The resolution directs the FTC to investigate potential price gouging and market manipulation by major fire truck manufacturers.
