A record 38 public school districts in Indiana will be asking voters to approve property tax referendums in the November election.
It’s due to new restrictions on when school boards can ask voters for the funding and they are seeking roughly a combined 500-million-dollars.
School referendums can only be on the ballot once every two years instead of twice a year after a new state law took effect last year.
Districts that aren’t seeking levies this year will have to wait until November 2028.
