Indiana’s storm damage from last week’s severe weather and flooding could top five-billion dollars according to Governor Mike Braun.

Braun sent a major disaster declaration request to Washington Thursday after storms beginning August 11th impacted at least 22 counties.

The governor says eight people were killed, 44 structures were destroyed and nearly two-thousand people were impacted.

Braun is asking the federal government for assistance with the damage, which he estimates could range from 550-million dollars to more than five-billion dollars.
