South Spencer Students to See Black Angus Beef on their Plates as Part of Farm to School Program

By John Szink Sep 10, 2026 | 8:04 AM

The South Spencer County School Corporation is adding locally raised Black Angus beef to its school lunches.

The district is partnering with Fischer Farms, with students expected to see the beef on their trays by the end of the month.

The move is part of the district’s Farm to School program, which began two years ago after parents and students asked for higher-quality food.

The district already gets melons, corn, tomatoes and milk from local producers.
