Substance use among Indiana students has hit its lowest levels since 2015, according to the 2026 Indiana Youth Survey of nearly 54,000 students in grades 6 through 12 at 183 schools.
Past-month alcohol use dropped to a 10-year low, with marijuana and vaping also declining across most grade levels.
Vaping among high school seniors fell sharply to 8.2%, down from 28.6% in 2018.
E-cigarettes remain the most-used tobacco product, and the most common way students who use marijuana consume it.
Heroin, meth, cocaine and other illicit drugs remained rare.
