State Senator Deery’s Lead Is Up to Three Votes in Primary

The lead for incumbent state Senator Spencer Deery over primary challenger Paula Copenhaver has increased to three votes as there are two remaining provisional ballots to count in Tippecanoe County.

Copenhaver was backed by President Donald Trump in the Republican primary as Deery was among the senators who voted against redistricting Indiana’s U.S. House maps.

The lead is now six-thousand-337 to six-thousand-334 votes.

Copenhaver can still file for a recount, but no petitions have been filed yet with the Secretary of State’s Office.
