Indiana Governor Mike Braun is ordering the state to stop using federal survivors’ benefits on foster child costs.

The Indiana Department of Child Services has been using the money to reimburse the state for the cost of caring for the children.

Braun says the money belongs to the children, not the state.

The average benefit for children is nearly 800-dollars a month until they turn 18 and 342 kids are currently receiving the benefits.
