The Jennings County Sheriff is facing felony charges following a six-month state police investigation into stolen campaign signs.
A grand jury indicted Sheriff Kenny Freeman for Theft, Official Misconduct, Perjury, and Obstruction of Justice.
Investigators say a rival sheriff candidate tracked a stolen sign using a G-P-S locator, which led troopers directly to a dumpster on the sheriff’s property.
Freeman turned himself in Monday morning and was released on his own recognizance ahead of a pre-trial hearing.
