A ban on student cell phone use in schools will be in effect when kids return to class this fall.
The new law for the state of Indiana went into effect Wednesday- but won’t make an impact until the 2026 to 2027 academic year begins.
That’s when schools must adopt a cell phone ban.
Schools can choose to have students leave their phones at home or have them turn them in to be stored for the school day.
Kids are still permitted to use cell phones at school for medical reasons, translation services, or if they’re part of individual learning plans.
