The FAA is investigating after a man on his way to rehab tried to open the cabin door in flight.

The incident happened Tuesday just after the United Express flight operated by Mesa Airlines took off from Indianapolis enroute to Houston.

Court documents say the suspect had been drinking before the flight and was detoxing from methamphetamine.

He allegedly called 911 while the plane was taking off and told the operator to stop the aircraft.

He was ultimately held down by passengers until the plane landed back in Indianapolis.
