The Dubois County Prosecutor’s Office says a Kentucky man appeared for his initial court hearing Wednesday in Dubois Superior Court on eight charges related to a crash with injury on Old Road 64 during the early morning hours of July 4th.
19-year-old Marvin Chavez-Dubon of Henderson, Kentucky is accused of fleeing a traffic stop on US 231 on the south side of Huntingburg.
Although he eluded police, his wrecked vehicle was later found off Old Road 64 containing a juvenile passenger who was severely injured and stuck in the vehicle.
Chavez-Dubon was eventually found in a corn field after fleeing from the vehicle.
He is facing charges of Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Serious Bodily Injury, Resisting Law Enforcement, Causing Serious Bodily Injury When Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated, Criminal Recklessness, Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated Endangering a Person, Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated, Operating a Vehicle with an ACE of .08 or More, and Minor Consuming Alcohol.
Chavez-Dubon is being held on $25,000 cash bond in the Dubois County Security Center.
