The American Red Cross is warning of a nationwide blood shortage.
It has declared its second-ever national blood supply crisis.
The organization says donations have fallen to a four-year summer low, leaving less than a one-day supply of type O positive blood, the most commonly transfused blood type.
Health officials are urging eligible donors of all blood types to make an appointment, saying even a single donation can help patients in critical need.
Two blood drives are scheduled in Daviess County next week.
On Thursday, August 6th a blood drive will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Daviess County Family YMCA at 405 Northeast 3rd Street in Washington.
Then on Friday, August 7th, a blood drive will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the First Mennonite Church at 8002 East 550 North in Montgomery.
