Washington Police will be stepping up impaired driving enforcement ahead of Labor Day.

The department announced Monday that it is partnering with the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute for the national “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign.

Through the Comprehensive Highway Injury Reduction Program, officers statewide will be working overtime from August 19th through September 7th to identify and stop drivers under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

According to the state, in 2025, nearly 23 percent of Indiana’s traffic fatalities involved alcohol, and more than 41 percent involved drug impairment.

In Indiana, it is illegal to drive with a BAC of .08 or higher.
