The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is issuing a health alert regarding rabies.
The CDC says there have been recent reports of increases in human exposures to rabid or possibly rabid animals nationwide.
The agency is reminding the public to avoid contact with wildlife and sick animals and to seek medical help if bitten.
The CDC says from July through August of this year, they’ve gotten 17 percent more rabies-related inquiries than during the same period last year, including reports of mass exposure events.
