With deer season underway, Indiana Conservation Officers are reminding hunters to put safety first.
More than 300,000 people are expected to hunt deer in Indiana this season, which runs through January 31st.
Most will do it safely.
Officers say the most common hunting injuries come from falls out of tree stands.
To lower the risk, inspect your stand before you hunt, and always wear a full-body safety harness.
Stay connected to the tree from the moment you leave the ground until you’re back down.
Officers also urge hunters to tell someone where they’ll be and when they’ll return.
