Knox County Sports Roundup for Thursday

On the local sports scene yesterday…

 

The Lincoln Tennis team downed Evansville 3-2 in the first round of the

SIAC Tourney.  Joshua Clegg won his number one single match 6-4 in the third set

to secure the win.  Mabrey Fleck also won in singles action as did

the number two doubles team of Michael Watry and Dayton Piper.

 

The South Knox girls soccer team beat Mt Vernon 2-1.

 

Vincennes University has announced that John Meeks will be the new Director of Athletics,

Effective September 9th.  Meeks has served the same role at Big Bend Community

College in Moses Lake, Washington.  He succeeds former Athletic Director Harry

Meeks, who retired in June after 33 years.

 

Middle School Sports

 

South Knox and Clark split in boys’ tennis.  South Knox won the A match 3-2.

Winning for Clark were Reid Hall in singles and the doubles team of Jaxson Newton and

Wesley Eaton.  Clark captured the B match 3-2.  Ryan Roberts and Connor Sexton combined

To win in separate doubles matches while Braylon Sanders and Bennett Davis also won in their

respected doubles match.

 

The South Knox middle school boys soccer beat Sullivan 2-1.  Easton Green and Max Clodfelter

Each had a goal for the Spartans.  The South Knox girls lost to Sullivan 7-0.  Kodee Yarber had 11 saves for the Spartans.
