Turkey Run State Park Guided Hikes

December 17, 2020 - February 28, 2021

Experience Turkey Run State Park’s canyons in a new way with guided ice hikes on Saturdays in January and February. Participants will be led through either Rocky Hollow, Bear Hollow, or Gypsy Gulch, depending on the date. All ice hikes require advance registration. Infant Weight Checks

December 22, 2020 - February 28, 2021

Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center’s lactation consultants are offering free walk-in, infant weight checks every Wednesday from 9-11 a.m. Lactation consults will also be available by appointment if needed. Call 812-996-0383. Weight checks will be held in the First Level Conference Room. Enter the main entrance of the hospital and stop at the information desk to be screened.

Walk the Museum

January 11 - March 31

The Dubois County Museum invites the public to “Walk the Museum” again this winter. Walkers are invited to come in during open hours to walk for a different change of pace. Museum hours are Tuesdays through Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m.to 4:00 p.m. and Sundays from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Closed Mondays. Museum members are free. Guests are $1.00.

Volunteers in Tax Assistance Service

January 11 - February 28

The United Way of Knox County will again sponsor the free VITA, or Volunteers in Tax Assistance, Service in February . Individuals, regardless of age or income, can drop off the required materials and pick them up the following week at the Knox County Public Library and the Bicknell Public Library. Questions can be answered at the United Way office at 812-882-3624

Diabetes Education Group

January 18 @ 5:45 pm - 7:00 pm

Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper sponsors a continuing education group for persons with diabetes, pre-diabetes, or anyone who is interested in learning about the disease. The topic for the January class is “Osteoporosis.” The support group is held the third Monday of each month. The next meeting will be Monday January 18th from 5:45 – 7:00 p.m. in Memorial Hospital’s Mary Potter Meeting Room.

“Stop the Bleed” Informational Program at JMH

Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center’s Ambulance Services is offering “Stop the Bleed”. This informational program focuses on the immediate response to bleeding. The next program is Tuesday, January 26th from 8:00-9:15 a.m. The class is free. To pre-register, email vstuffle@mhhcc.org.

Stroke Survivors Support Group

January 26 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, in conjunction with University of Louisville Health, is offering a new, FREE support group where stroke survivors and their family/caregivers can talk openly with others who share similar experiences. The first support group will be held Tuesday, January 26th., from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. in the Medical Arts Building Conference Center at 721 West 13th Street in Jasper. Pre-registration is not required.
