Knox Co. Watermelon Festival

August 5 - September 6

Celebrating the huge watermelon industry in Knox County with some summertime fun – the 2022 Watermelon Festival will be on Friday, August 5th & Saturday, August 6th in Vincennes. Free Walk-In, Infant Weight Checks

Lactation consultants at Memorial Hospital in Jasper are offering free walk-in, infant weight checks on Wednesdays except the 1st Wednesday of the month from 9-11 a.m. Lactation consults will also be available by appointment if needed. Call 812-996-0383. Weight checks will be held in the First Level Conference Room.

Dubois County Museum 3rd Annual Car Show

August 14 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

The Dubois County Museum in Jasper will host their 3rd Annual Car Show on Sunday, August 14th in the grassy shady park on the east side of the museum building. Cars can register beginning at 9:00 a.m. till 12:00 noon. Cost is $15 per vehicle, $10 per pre-registered by August 7th. Registration forms are available at the museum and on the museum’s Facebook page.

Diabetes Education Group

August 15 @ 5:45 pm - 6:45 pm

Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper sponsors a continuing education group for persons with diabetes, pre-diabetes, or anyone who is interested in learning about the disease. The topic for the August class is “Feelings about Diabetes”. The support group is held the third Monday of each month. The next meeting will be Monday, August 15th, from 5:45 – 6:45 p.m. in Board Conference Room B/C in the lower level.

‘Get Your Craft On’ at the Washington Carnegie Public Library

The Washington Carnegie Public Library will host ‘Get Your Craft On’ Tuesday, August 16th from 4:00 until 5:00 PM. K-6th grades will have a special art project to create and take home. Patoka Lake Hosts Kayak Tour August 20th

August 20 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

Patoka Lake is hosting a kayak tour on Saturday, Aug. 20th at 9 a.m. The tour leaves from the Fisherman’s Campground boat ramp. Participants will have a chance to see an active bald eagle nest and other wildlife. Bring your binoculars, a kayak, cameras, preferred refreshments, and sunscreen. Annual Precious Blood Church Picnic

August 21

The annual Precious Blood Church Picnic gets underway August 21st at the church on Highway 56 on Jasper’s west side. Mass starts at 9 am with activities starting at 10. Enjoy fried chicken dinners served in the church’s air-conditioned cafeteria or pick up in the drive-thru under the tents. Mock turtle soup available by the gallon. Great fun for the whole family.

Stop the Bleed Program

Jasper Memorial Hospital’s Ambulance Services offers “Stop the Bleed,” an informational program focusing on the immediate response to bleeding. The next program is Tuesday, August 23rd from 8:00-9:15 a.m. in the hospital’s 1st Level Conference Room. The class is free, but pre-registration is required by emailing bsherman@mhhcc.org.

Stroke Survivors Support Group

August 23 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center, in conjunction with University of Louisville Health offers a free support group for stroke survivors and their family/caregivers. It will be held Tuesday, August 23rd from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. in the Medical Arts Building Conference enter located at 721 W. 13th Street in Jasper. Pre-registration is not required to attend.
